Delhi: 26  people killed in massive fire near Mundka Metro Station

Delhi: On Friday 13th May, 26  people killed in massive fire in building near Mundka metro station, in West Delhi. Police has arrested two people Harish Goyal and Varun Goel.The fire broke out in a building near pillar number 544 of Mundka metro station, the process of extinguishing the fire is underway, officials said. Some people even jumped off the building and were later taken to the hospital.

Police reached the spot after getting information about the fire, broke the windows of the building, rescued people and admitted the injured to the hospital, a senior official said.”26 bodies were recovered in the fire that broke out in a three-storey commercial building near Mundka metro station,” news agency ANI quoted Delhi Fire Service’s Deputy Chief Fire Officer Sunil Choudhary as saying.

Delhi: President expressed his condolence 

Delhi: President of India Ram Nath Kovind expressed condolences to the bereaved families. “Saddened by the massive fire that took place in a building near Mundka metro station in Delhi. My condolences to the bereaved families. I wish the injured a speedy recovery,” Kovind tweeted.  Preliminary investigation by Police found that it is a three-storey commercial building which is usually used to provide office space for companies. Also Deputy Commissioner of Police (External) Sameer Sharma said preliminary investigation has revealed that the three-storey commercial building was generally used to provide office space to companies.According to Delhi Police, some people are still trapped in the three-storey commercial building.

Delhi: PM Modi Announced compensation amount to the victims family

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed condolences to the   victims of fire. “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the massive fire in Delhi. My condolences to the bereaved families. I wish the injured a speedy recovery,” he tweeted. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of those killed in the fire. “Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured,” he said.

Delhi: CM Arvind Kejriwal condoled the victims

CM Arvind Kejriwal condoled the death of the victims, and said that he is in constant touch with fire officials regarding the situation on the ground. He said, “Shocked and saddened to learn about this tragic incident. I am in constant touch with the wider authorities. Our brave firefighters are doing their best to douse the fire and save lives. God bless everyone.” Police stated that medical facilities provided to the victims. Delhi Police also informed that the owner of the company is in police custody.

The  Police further said that a total of nine fire tenders are present at the spot and trying to control the situation, ambulance facility is also available on the spot to provide immediate medical help to the victims. According to ANI, Civil Defense Officer SP Tomar said that a help desk has been set up at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where the injured have been admitted, whose loved ones are missing or injured.

Delhi: DCP Sharma said out of 27 bodies, 25 people could not be identified

DCP Sharma said that out of the 27 bodies, 25 could not be identified. The police officer further said, “The forensic team will examine the DNA samples. There have been 27-28 missing complaints.” The divisional officer of the fire department said, “There was only one staircase in the building and because of this people could not go out. I think the building did not have proper NOC.”
