Rapper Lil Tjay: Surgery after the New Jersey shooting on Wednesday

Rapper Lil Tjay: Released his new song “Goin’ Up” two months ago, has been rushed to emergency surgery after being shot multiple times in New Jersey on Wednesday night.

According to a statement from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the 21-year-old and a friend of his, Antoine Boyd (22), were the victims of an armed robbery that occurred at midnight at The Promenade in Edgewater. While the rapper was shot multiple times, his friend was shot in one go.

A source confirmed that the rapper, whose real name is Tion Jayden Merritt, is out of surgery and is recovering. However, he is still not out of danger.

Police has arrested the criminals

Rapper Lil Tjay: Police officials have arrested three people in connection with the incident. The trigger man, Mohamed Konate, is said to have committed the crime against TJ, and his friends Boyd and 24-year-old Jeffrey Valdez.

Police have charged Konate with three counts of first-degree attempt to murder, three counts of armed robbery, two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and a fourth-degree aggravated assault.

Two other men (Boyd and Valdez), who were with the rapper, have also been arrested for second-degree illegal possession of weapons.

Officials said Konate’s extradition to New Jersey is currently pending. The other two are being held at the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, awaiting their preliminary hearing.

Rapper Lil Tjay announced his new song

In his last social media post, TJ announced that it would be ‘a good summer’ as he was busy working on his new song ‘Stressed’.

According to tour dates posted on SeatGeek.com and the rapper’s website, TJ was scheduled to perform at American Dream Mall’s Nickelodeon Universe theme park on July 22, as well as at several concerts in Europe.

The NYPost reported that the rapper was indicted on New Year’s Eve charges of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property, and illegal possession of marijuana. He was sprung on a $50,000 bond posted by artist bondsman Ira Judelson.

The Bergen Country Prosecutor’s Office tweeted just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday that “according to initial investigation, [the shooting] doesn’t seem, to be a random act and victim has been updated from basic to the better condition. The other was hospitalized with non-perilous wounds looking great.”

Upon learning of the shocking incident, The Kid Laroi and French Montana took to social media and expressed concern about the artist’s health.

Tion Jayden Merritt was born in the Bronx borough of New York City. He was raised by a single mother and had two younger siblings in what were described as “roomy” apartments. Merritt called himself the problematic child of the three, as he often found himself embroiled in petty robberies and school fights. At age 15, Merritt was arrested for one of his robberies and sentenced to a year in a youth detention center, where he would begin writing rap; he included one of his hits, “Resume”, which he released on SoundCloud.
