The Telangana government issued a notice to Diljit Dosanjh, instructing him not to sing songs related to alcohol, violence, and drugs during his concert, specifically mentioning tracks like ‘Punj Taraa’ and ‘Patiala Peg’. Diljit shared a video on social media where he is seen making a jab at the government.
Diljit reacted regarding the alcohol issue
He said, “There is good news that today I have not received any notice.” Fans started cheering upon hearing this. Then he added that there is even better news. “I will in any case not sing a tune about liquor today”. Why won’t I sing?”
“Because Gujarat is a dry state. Well, I have sung devotional songs more than dozens. In the last 10 days, I have released two devotional songs, But no one is talking about that. Everyone is sitting on TV discussing Patiala Peg. An anchor was saying that if an actor speaks to you separately, you will defame him. You are making the singer famous for singing about alcohol. I am not calling anyone separately to ask if they have had a Patiala Peg. I am here to sing. And there are dozens of thousands of songs in Bollywood about alcohol. I have one song. There might be two or four more, at most.”
“I will not even sing that. Today I still won’t sing those songs, no tension. I don’t drink myself. However, the stars in Bollywood promote alcohol; Diljit Dosanjh does not. Don’t poke me.
